Week 4: Sports Management and Operations Reflection

  1. Do you feel like this course met your expectations?

This course absolutely exceeds my expectations. I learned so much about how to properly engage as a sport minded professional. Professor Bartels to extra time to make sure I was understanding exactly what he wanted me to learn. I really appreciated his personalized approach to education. All students can learn the amazing concepts and this class was enjoyable as well.

  1. What was the most interesting thing you learned in the course?

The most interesting concepts I learned was about the integration of technology in sports stadiums. I’m still overwhelmed with excited me about the apple ibeackon technology that is in 20 of 30 MLB stadiums. Also, the idea that social media has a completely different effect when being used inside of a massive stadium. Also learning about using advertising space in the stadiums to increase fan engagement was also very interesting.

  1. Is there any aspect of the sports industry that you wanted to learn more?

Yes I would love to learn more about the actual field operations as well as the marketing operations. There could be a niche market to introduce a new technology that players and fans can engage with during games and practices.

  1. Have your views, opinions or career aspirations changed after studying the major themes in the Sports Management & Operations course?

I think I have a real career path now. At first, I was very confused about my direction in sport and administration. After this course my professor not only taught me well, he also took the time to guide me to the best career advice I have gotten ever. I have updated my resume and the way I was looking to join a career in the work force has improved.

  1. How will you use what you have learned in this course to prepare for a job in sports?

I feel with this practical application of knowledge in this course I will be an asset to any sports marketing team in the professional arena.
